Feast of San Giuseppe held the third Sunday after Easter
There are two weekly MARKETS in Savigliano on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
The many stalls are arranged in the main town squares, in particular:
piazza del Popolo – clothes, shoes, household goods, accessories …
piazza Santa Rosa – food (fruit and vegetables)
piazza Cesare Battisti – food (local produce and “campagna amica”(food sold directly by the producer )
piazza Cavour – food (fish, cheese, ….)
The weekend of the spring equinox is the moment devoted to agricultural technology in a province where agriculture is a leading industry. The importance of the fair is revealed not only by the number of participating businesses but also by the sheer size of the exhibition ground and its relative production.
The trade fair, held in Savigliano on an exhibition ground of 44 thousand square metres, hosts numerous informative events on innovations and new concepts in the sector. It is becoming an increasingly important event for professionals who have to deal with the challenges of the market and the evolution of agricultural techniques. Every year there are over 350 exhibitors of equipment and new agricultural machines, for working plains, hills, mountains and even gardens.
Arciconfraternita della Pietà (p.zza Cesare Battisti) and the roads in the city centre. Easter Sunday afternoon. The devotional story of the Arciconfraternita della Pietà has its roots in the Easter Sunday celebrations. In 1726 the Solemn Procession of Easter Sunday was established, it was interrupted from 1970 to 2000, and is still held today with figures representing characters from the Old and New Testament. The procession route follows the streets in the town centre and ends at the Arciconfraternita della Pietà in piazza Cesare Battisti.
Biennial – 4th Sunday in September
Every two years the Bread Festival in Savigliano celebrates one of our staple foods with a charming festival.
Piazza del Popolo is transformed in an open-air workshop, with a designated flour deposit, a bakery where you can find a wide choice of local and regional specialties, an area where different guest producers take turns to show visitors the art of bread-making, from the grain to the loaf through the thousand forms of bread.
Basically something to sink your teeth into!
Bread to look at, bread to taste, dough to knead, bread to talk about and to listen to. A festival rich with surprises for young and old in an itinerary that leads you through the story of bread, that will call to your palate and intellect, with laboratories, music and many gastronomic exhibitors.
Every year Savigliano holds four Antiques and flea markets.
Coloured stalls fill the two main squares and the surrounding porticos; each time the magic of bric-a-brac is repeated, here everyone can find childhood memories and collectors pieces at accessible prices: just take your time and browse through the goods on display. A number of collectors come from other regions to the Market in Savigliano because they know that here they can find those rare pieces to enrich their collections. Stalls are open for business form 8 am to 7 pm, in bad weather there is space for everyone under Savigliano’s long porticos. To set up a stall just call 335/6176331 info@gloriamonasterolo.it. For visitors parking is free and can be found easily in the nearby streets and squares.
