Description
The Beggiami family is one of the most important in the town, Beggiamo Beggiami was consul for Savigliano in 1320, Cristoforo Beggiami set up the first printing press, while numerous other members of the family were ambassadors, delegates for the king or abbots for the monastery of San Pietro. The buildings in this area, between Piazza Santa Rosa and via Stamperia belonged to the family and there are some traces of early fourteenth century architecture. Kept in the apse of St. Peter’s Church, are the wooden choir stalls made by the Tiffner brothers which bear the crest of the Beggiami family.
